My dad who is an architect always says “the best is already designed, most of the news today are just bad copies” I used to disagree and get quite upset by this depressing theory but today I tend to (partly) agree. We see a lot of copies today or should I say a lot of new products with a very strong resemblance to something that already exists. I think that producing news just for the sake of it or even worse launch something similar to your competitors success just doesn’t make sense and it makes design go backwards. Sometimes the best thing is just to work with what you have unless you come up with something great and new. There is so many great classics out there that could be put back into production and so much great design that just needs a new shape up. Like these amazing classic chairs from Gemla now being produced in a matte black wax. Love.
